However this is why I won't bash Allen for his mistakes. Brock has his share so it's hypocritical to give one guy crap while overlooking those for the other.

Allen is able to do things Brock will simply never be able to do. Partly why it feels like the Bills don't give him as much help, essentially the "Josh will make it happen"

Regardless I'm very happy we have Brock and Kyle. They're a great marriage and I'm excited to see what they can do this year. I just pray the rest of our guys stay healthy cuz I thought Stribling would be a huge addition. Already losing Pearsall sucks. We need the other guys to stick around and ball out with Brock making right decisions and spreading the ball around.

Because of his size? Examples please? (I said I was giving it a rest lol but it's fun to chat it up about qbs).

Brock is about the size of Drew Brees, has similar play style, would one say Drew Brees could never do some things Allen does? Drew developed a keen sense of pocket awareness just like Brock. Making size a non factor really.

If it's dual threat, Brock has that too, he just has to utilize it more with the legs at times. Also, what Brock may 'lack in arm strength', he definitely makes it up with core and lower body.

Allen is likely a physically stronger dude due to size and it could be an advantage when trying to rush for yards, scrambles etc. Brock can rush and scramble too, fast. Maybe not as fancy looking as Allen but he can do it. Yes, Allen is taller, he can see things that Brock may not be able to but I would still argue, size isn't too much of a factor.

Allen is a little faster and definitely stronger when he runs because of the size difference. His arm is much stronger. Brock can throw the ball 40-50 yards downfield but he has to put more arc on the ball so it takes longer to reach the receiver. Allen can throw that same distance and the ball is on a line.

That doesn't make Allen a better QB. He just has better tools. That's why nearly every GM and NFL fan would rank him ahead of Brock. Game management and processing are much harder to measure than size and speed but they can matter just a much.

To summarize, Josh Allen and Brock Purdy are really good QBs.

Yes because of his size and his arm strength. I don't need to provide examples because you know what I'm talking about. Allen has also been considerably more durable while playing. Something we need Brock to do as well.

My post wasn't a knock on Brock btw, simply pointing out the fact that Josh has tools Brock simply doesn't have and there really shouldn't be a "show me examples" situation. Let's get real.
Take a look at Brock's stats over the few years that he's been with the Niners. He's on track to have the highest QB rating in NFL history. I believe last year he had the highest air yard completion percentage. And now, he's adding a scramble element to his game. Stop comparing him to other QB's in the league. Most of the "elite" QB's in the NFL haven't even sniffed a Super Bowl

This does go with my earlier point though. Brock has played well enough and accomplished enough that he can stand on his own merits. We don't need to diminish the things other QBs are doing to prop him out.

As long as Brock is balling out for the 49ers and helping us win football games I personally don't care where people rank him, though I'll certainly roll my eyes at many of the QBs some still rank ahead of him.

I think (in my book) they matter much more than arm strength and size. But dont get me wrong arm and size does matter. But only up to a point, before the law of diminishing returns kicks in. For example - So what if a guy can throw 150 yards, the field is only 100. So what if the player can run a 4.2 in the forty, a QB's main function is to stay in the pocket or hand off. Just sayin...

To say the least. lol

They're actually 2 of the best QBs in the NFL. Where are they ranked? that's subjective, but they're both damn good QBs that most teams would kill to have.

I agree except arm strength isn't about how far you can throw. It's more about how quickly the ball arrives. Less air time gives DBs less time to recover if they get bet. Like I said Brock can throw the ball 40-50 yards (most QBs can) but Allen's ball will get there quicker. Foot speed only matters if you like to scramble a lot and then only once you get into the open field. Around the pocket foot quickness is more important than flat out speed.

Brock makes up for it by throwing with better anticipation than any current qb

Meh, the football field is about 54 yards wide. Line up 8 guys across the field in A straight line and thats about each person covering about 7 yards per person. I'm not even talking about *depth* either. Accuracy is more important than arm strength.

Again arm strength and athleticism is important up to a point. A QB does have to get the football in those 7 yard windows (again assuming a straight line). I think Steve's longest throw with a step up and full windup was about low 60yards/high 50 yards. (it was a QB throwing competion) But I go back to what Walsh wanted in his QB's. The ability to diagnose and throw accurately. He won a lot of Superbowls with that.

All three of our QB's on the roster can easily throw 50 yards. They've shown it on film.
